Graduated from Silesian Medical University in Zabrze,Poland. He has worked for 11 years in the Urology Department in Specialist Hospital No. 1 in Bytom,Poland. In the years 1999–2002 he was associated with the Center of Diagnostics and Laser Therapy Silesian Medical University in Bytom,Poland, one of the few reference centers in the world for photodynamic diagnostics and treatment of bladder cancer.
In 2006 he completed specialist training in Endourology at the Urology Department in the University of California Los Angeles.
In 2007 he worked (Staff Grade Urology) at the Causeway Hospital Urology Department in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, the best equipped urology ward in UK.
In 2008 he worked at the Adelaide & Meath Hospital Urology Department in Dublin, recognized as Ireland's National Urological Center.
In addition to being licensed as a doctor in Ireland, he also has registration in the United Kingdom and Spain.
He graduated from the Medical University of Silesia in 1985. In 1991 he obtained his first degree of specialization in general surgery.
He worked 10 years as a surgeon at the 4th General Surgery Clinic in Bytom, Medical University of Silesia in Zabrze, and completed a specialization internship in general surgery at JFK Hospital, New York, USA.
In 1999, he began specializing in urology at the Provincial Specialist Hospital No. 4 in Bytom. During this time, he participated in numerous courses and trainings in the field of ultrasound, endourology, urology oncology in Poland and abroad.
In 2005, he took the EBU /European Board of Urology/ multi-stage specialization exam in urology obtaining the title of FEBU urologist specialist /Fellow of the European Board of Urology/ It is a specialization exam recognized by all European Union countries.
Currently, he still participates in numerous symposia and improvement courses organized by Urological Societies around the world. He is a member of the Polish and European Association of Urology.
Dr Jan Wilczek is registered with the Irish Medical Council as a Specialist Urologist under the number: 422186
